Wojtek Dabrowski, Founder and Managing Partner
Wojtek (VOY-tek) Dabrowski is the Founder and Managing Partner of Provident Communications Inc. Wojtek is an expert-level communications leader with a proven track record of protecting and enhancing global brands and delivering sound strategic communications counsel to senior executives.
Before launching Provident in 2016, Wojtek served as the Vice President of CEO Communications at Manulife Financial Corp., one of the world's leading financial services companies. In this role, Wojtek led and advised on all aspects of the internal and external CEO communications strategy, from executive communications and speaking engagements to media appearances and financial results communications.
Prior to that, Wojtek was Director of Executive Communications at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), one of the world's largest banks, and the largest in Canada. In this role, he provided strategic communications counsel in support of RBC's CEO and its Chair of the Board. Notably, he played a leadership role in the internal and external announcement of RBC's largest acquisition to date, and led the development and launch of the CEO's LinkedIn Influencer campaign.
Also during his time at RBC, Wojtek led internal and external communications for the bank's largest business, personal & commercial banking. Prior to that, he led the communications teams responsible for the wealth management and capital markets arms of TD Bank Group, a leading North American bank.
Before his corporate communications career, Wojtek spent 10 years as a daily business journalist, covering a variety of sectors for Thomson Reuters, the Financial Post and The Canadian Press. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Ryerson University in Toronto and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.
Michael MacMillan, Executive Vice President
Michael MacMillan is Executive Vice President at Provident. An award-winning communications strategist, Michael brings more than 15 years of experience working with consumer and B2B brands to develop their authentic voice and leverage strategic communications in support of their business goals.
Most recently, Michael served as Senior Vice President and Partner at High Road Communications, a full-service public relations firm with offices in Canada and the U.S. During his career at some of Canada’s top PR agencies, Michael helped plan the Canadian launch of retail giant Target, and led teams that created and executed innovative media and influencer campaigns for Nike. Michael has also worked with Microsoft, American Express, Salesforce, the Government of Ontario and a range of startups.
A former technology journalist, Michael has a unique understanding of how to bring even the most technical concepts to life in a way that resonates with consumers. He has used that knowledge to help startups grow their profiles with consumers, analysts and investors.
Michael has provided media training to numerous spokespeople and executives, preparing them to make the most of important corporate milestones and defend against negative storylines. He is also a certified crisis counsellor who has helped brands navigate their way through significant reputational risk.
Michelle Wasylyshen, Vice President, Public Affairs
Michelle Wasylyshen is Vice President, Public Affairs, at Provident. Having worked in both the private and public sectors for more than 15 years, Michelle has extensive knowledge and insight into the areas of political advocacy, stakeholder relations, strategic communications and reputation management.
Most recently, Michelle oversaw the government and stakeholder relations activities for Canada’s largest natural gas distribution company and the Canadian-based leader in energy transportation and distribution. In this role, she drove and managed public consultation and stakeholder outreach during a period of unprecedented public scrutiny.
Before this, Michelle was a senior advisor with a highly respected public affairs firm, where she provided a full spectrum of public affairs consulting services for a diverse array of domestic and international organizations and industry associations. Michelle has also worked for Ontario’s second largest pension fund, where she implemented a comprehensive stakeholder relations program and led the organization’s government relations function. She has also held positions within the offices of Ontario’s Solicitor General and Attorney General.
Active in the community, Michelle has been involved with charitable organizations focused on youth mental health. She is also a Director with the Public Affairs Association of Canada, where her focus is on providing career development for members through mentorship.
Michelle completed her Masters of Business Administration Program (MBA) at Wilfrid Laurier University. She also holds a BA (High Honours) in Law and Criminology from Carleton University and a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and Communications from Humber College.
Melanie Anne Filipp, Account Director
Melanie Anne Filipp is an Account Director at Provident. A senior brand and communications strategist with more than a decade of experience in the industry, spanning the consumer and corporate sectors, she is passionate about fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Prior to joining Provident, Melanie held Director-level roles with a national PR agency, where she oversaw public relations and influencer marketing for a global beer brand, as well as a boutique firm, where she led and implemented the agency's consumer PR and crisis communications.
Throughout her career, she has developed innovative communications strategies for brands such as Molson, Labatt, Beau's All Natural Brewing Co., Unilever (including Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty and Hellmann's Real Food Movement), Sabra and Wrigley. She also has a strong track record in financial services, having worked with NEI Investments, Crowe Soberman LLP and Justwealth Financial.
